I was so incredibly impressed with Dr. Tyson. Not only after watching the video clip, but after exploring the Mabry website. As far as the video is concerned I feel that the students are going to leave this school with a higher knowledge and skill then most kids their age. The techniques and projects that hey are achieving with the Mac computers exceed what I know. More so, it made me realize that had I gotten the opportunities they have at their fingertips when I was in middle school I might be a faster typer, researcher and Internet explores. I feel that the opportunities that Dr. Tyson is instilling in them will take them far. In addition, watching this video has made me appreciate this class even more. Although I have learned so very much already in this course I feel that I am ready to learn more. Those kids inspired me to catch up with them because I may soon be teaching them in high school and I’m going to have to supply them with more creative projects, PowerPoint’s, and activities. It has opened my eyes to how differently kids are learning from when I was younger. Although they are learning the same subjects they are being exposed to far more than I ever was in middle school. i have learned that I have some technological catching up to do if i want to make the ways I teach and understand my students more up to date.

On another note After looking at the Mabry site I was even more impressed. The site is unlike any other school site I have ever visited. It is organized, easy to navigate, colorful, and interactive. Most of all, Dr. Tyson seems to be extremly involved in his school and his community, I cannot say that I have ever had a principal like that in my personal educational experiences. he seems very focused on being involved and encouraging in his schools learning. I was happy to see that he has his own personal blog called Dr. Tysons Desk where he writes about his thoughts, feelings and updates. This simple act makes him seem like a very accesable and down to earth principal that truly cares about his responsabilites as a principal and role model. I noticed that he also gives out an award called the Pathagorean award for math. Overall, I was very impresed with his involvement in his school and his leadership as an educator. His projects and ideas seem to be benefiting his students and school community. Perhaps other principals will be impressed and encouraged to follow in his path.
